If you don't like it just stick to XP till it's dead & buried, or install Classic Shell, or replace Explorer altogether. –Karan Nov 23 '12 at 20:50 @Bob In Control Panel, make sure you are in Classic View, with all Control Panel icons showing. Not sure why it fixes the problem, but it works for me. so i knew what to do, go to Task Manager and start explorer.exe this time i had a error message telling me that windows can't find explorer.exe (windows 7)!
The question you link to has several other alternatives (or links to pages listing them, at least). However, Microsoft isn't going to fix it in Windows 7, but they finally did fix it in later versions of Windows 8 before final release. (Microsoft's ongoing business model of actually I can get TweakUI for XP to run in compatibility mode either (someone on another forum was able to use that to disable smooth scrolling). I would like the "Computer" to be permanently expanded.

I have "smooth-scroll list boxes" unchecked, but it doesn't seem to help. weblink If anyone has any idea of how to fix this or if there is some 3rd party tool out there that could solve this problem please share. I like to have a folder with shortcuts on my desktop where I keep all my shortcuts in order to escape desktop clutter.I like this folder to not display navigation pane It usually also clears the repainting problems, as it removes Explorer "lag".

So what governs whether or not that slider appears.
Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Personalization. Thanks again... You can still see the full name by hovering the cursor over what you CAN see. Whenever I click on Windows Explorer, the Navigation pane was missing. I am NOT clicking on Apply to All Folders in View/Options.

Even things that worked in Vista (such as the left pane auto-scrolling left/right if a folder name was too long) no longer work in Win7. Did several repair/installs, but all of them failed. Among many useful features, it has one called "Fix folder scrolling" that solves the problem of the selected folder jumping to the bottom of the pane. I just got a Dell XPS 8300 with Windows Professional 64-bit.

Any ideas? its the mouse that causes this problem so its either you remove your mouse or change itthats it and if it works for you like it did for me, then tell Any ideas? I wonder if the animated smooth scrolling is causing the problem.Different types of scrolling cause different degrees of the problem, but it happens nearly all the time.
