So, suspecting that I needed a password for the NEW box, I went to CONTROL PANEL/NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER/CHOOSE HOMEGROUP AND SHARING OPTIONS/[under 'Other Homegroup Actions'] CHANGE THE PASSWORD. Windows OS installer doesn't give a damn about other OSes installed on your PC and it always overwrites the MBR. Skype suck with this interface. Stupid thing...... I hate windows 7 and I WANT MY IT DEPARTMENT TO LEAVE IT FOR DEAD. Seriously, it's not a hard equation.

Box1 can see box2 under NETWORK in Windows Explorer, but I can't connect to it - same exact problem and error message that I get when right-click/map network drive is selected. with that said, learn how to set WindowsXPsp3 paramiters for a program in question. Primarily this is from the 7 boxes being difficult - XP boxes talk easy peasy to each other, at least in my case and on my network they do. So my caveat to you is simply this: be careful. Nice one Microsoft, make me switch between mouse and keyboard like a ‘ckin idiot just to go up a level. I'm not a W7 hater although I only have one netbook with Windows 7 (my wife uses it). To me this says A LOT about Microsoft.
I share a folder to everyone on my LAN and have no problems getting to it from any machine on my LAN. Know why Bill Gates is so rich? Because he figured out it's easier to make people fix your fuck-ups rather than produce quality. And chumps like me keep falling for it.
