I've downloaded and used FurMark to push the card to its limits and determined the problem is definitely heat. As for AMD’s desktop product stack, Tonga has been used so far in a single product, the Radeon R9 285. Sensitive cards and systems with poor cooling, such as cases with poor circulation, or computers stored in enclosed spaces, were victims of that particular incident. Inconsistencies like this can be the result of hardware and software configurations so hopefully the problem can be identified more accurately and resolved for those affected.

Didn't damage hardware though. EDIT: Works. If you don't actively monitor your temperatures you would have almost no way of knowing that this is happening. Check This Out The card you’re most likely to find at this price point is AMD’s Radeon R7 265, the company’s lowest-tier Pitcairn card.
Now I have another dead graphics card and I honestly don't know what to do. Of particular note, games like Shadows of Mordor and Assassin’s Creed: Unity are hitting shelves with high performance requirements and VRAM-hungry assets that can eat into 4GB+ of VRAM, as consoles I found it to be under warranty and had it RMA'd to Gigabyte, where it was returned to me and now works. Had a graphics card failure (burned out) replaced it and system only boots 1 in 5 times.
When I opened the case the GPU was so hot I couldn't even remove it from the PCI-e and had to wait until it was cool enough.
