Also I forgot to mention is your external drive in an enclosure meaning you can take it out and hook it up to a desktop? There has been no mention of running chkdsk /r since it is questionable at this point if the drive will be recognized. This one only has a USB plug, no power supply. To fix this problem, simply reformat the NTFS partition as FAT32. I do happen to have a dead drive and if I plug a thumb drive or nano into it, nothing happens. I've been to probably 20 sites, even Microsoft and Windows troubleshooting, AND Sony.

Could just be my eyes though.Even then, if it did come off, I'm not sure there is a regular SATA connector behind the USB connector on that board, it sure doesn't Tell them you support a bipartisan Fair Repair bill, SF 15. The culprit could be the cable or the usb controller within the enclosure. The problem is that when I plug it in it is first recognized (at least it sees something) and then it goes away (with the corresponding sound).
I've just installed windows 7 today, so it's my first time using it.
